Teacher Spotlight – Lou Phillips

Lou Phillips
Mr. Lou Phillips joined us this year as our 5th grade teacher.  Mr. Phillips has taught for 16 years in Georgia and Alabama, coming to Tabernacle from Center Point Elementary.  He is a member of Unity Baptist Church in Kimberly where he has attended for three years, serving as a Sunday school teacher, in the nursery, and as an usher.

Back to School Revival

Don’t forget our Back to School Revival is this week!  Students in Grades 07-12 will need to be in Chapel dress Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
The services will begin at 9:00am each morning.  Our Speaker is Bro. Eric Capaci from Gospel Light Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  Parents are certainly welcome to join us each day!
We will kick off our Revival with a Back to School Worship Service this evening at 7:00pm.  While we are not ones to typically spread rumors, we have heard that the Homeroom who has the most students present for this Sunday night event will have casual days on Thursday and Friday of this week!

Thursday Prayer Group

Each week we have parents and grandparents who gather in the Sanctuary on Thursday morning at 7:30am to pray for our school, our teachers, and our students.  We are grateful for this group’s commitment to prayer for our school, and our prayer is that God would bless each of them as they have been a blessing to us.
If you are interested in the Prayer Group or have questions, please contact Natalie McPherson.  There is also a TCS Prayer Facebook Group so you can stay up to date on matters.
The group will have its first meeting this week, but due to a conflict with Senior Portraits, they will meet on Friday at 7:30am instead of Thursday.  We hope to see you there!

Archery Night

We will host an Archery Night on September 6th at 6:30pm.  The Regional Director for the Alabama Department of Conservation will be there to discuss the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), tournaments, and scholarship opportunities.  We will also have information on the Archery season and practices.  Some members from our Archery team will put their skills on display, and we will have time for interested students to try their hand at it as well.
Anyone interested in Archery is welcome to attend.  Archery will be available for students in Grades 04-12.

Our Parent-Student Handbooks are once again available online.  They can be downloaded from the Handbooks and Policies page.

Elementary Chapel for August

Because of a conflict with our Back to School Revival, the Elementary Chapels for August will be combined on August 21st.  Parents of students in Grades 04-06, please be sure to make note of this change.  Our calendar has been updated as well.

Website is Live!

Our website if finally live!  Thank you for your patience while we worked through the hosting issues.
Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the new format, particularly the Calendar.  We will be updating with more online forms, posts, etc. each day, so be sure to check back regularly.
