NOTES:

  • Casual Day Dress is permitted for exam days. Students in grades 07-12 will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m. on exam days and must be picked up no later than 11:30am.  This year there will be no special arrangements for students staying after 11:30am.
  • Students must stay for the entire exam session. Students may not leave the classroom during an exam except for emergencies.  If a student must leave the class, he/she should have a pass, and students should only be gone one at a time.
  • Regular school rules apply on exam days regarding discipline, respect, etc. Cell phones should not be brought into the classroom at all during exams, even if they are turned off.  All discipline issues will be sent immediately to Mr. McBrayer.
  • Students in grades 07-12 must check in at 9:30 a.m. if they do not have an exam during the first exam session. Students will check in at the front office and go directly to the classroom.  Students in grades 07-12 must check out at 9:20 a.m. if they do not have an exam during the second exam session.  Students should wait to be picked up on the porch of church.  At no time should a student be on the High School Hall during an exam time if they are not taking an exam.
  • Students will only be permitted to use the phone on exam days in case of an extreme emergency. Students will need to have informed parents of pick up times prior to exam days.
  • We will not have the cafeteria open for break time between exams. Students taking both exams in one day will move from one room to the other at 9:30 a.m.

End of Year Events 2021

As we prepare for all our big events we have at the end of the year, we are approaching each with equal amounts of precaution and common sense.  We want these events to be as open as possible, but without reaching the levels of capacity in our Sanctuary that we have seen in the past.  Below you will find details for each of our remaining events.

Nuggets Emergency!

When the school loses power during the day, the first thought is always towards the safety of our students.  A close second thought, however, is how to feed all the students who ordered a lunch if the power does not return.

Update on School Closing 3/17/2021

When it comes to making decisions on closing, we try to weigh everything in making a decision for the safety of our families.  While we try to avoid such a late notice of closing school, we also realize it is never too late to make that decision in the interest of safety.

Early Dismissal on 3/17

Looking at the weather forecast for tomorrow, we have decided to dismiss at 2:00pm so everyone can get ahead of any issues and prepare accordingly.  Early dismissals can be a little busier since we are dismissing Childcare and After-School Care at the same time, so we wanted to send as much detailed information as possible to help you prepare.

Elementary Students

The car pickup line for Elementary will remain largely the same, with Elementary parents in the first two lines and High School parents in the third line.  However, we will be dismissing Elementary students from the side door of the Gym rather than the Sanctuary.  We will begin that process at 1:45pm.

High School Students

The car pickup line for High School will remain largely the same, with Elementary parents in the first two lines and High School parents in the third line.  High School students will be dismissed on a staggered schedule like a normal dismissal day, so parents can proceed through the line as they normally would.

After-School Care/Childcare

Kindergarten students in After-School Care with older siblings in Elementary will also dismiss from the side door of the Gym.  We will pair up these K3-K5 students with their siblings in the Gym before we begin pickup, and they can load together in the pickup line.  This will keep these parents from having to park and enter the building for the younger child.

For Kindergarten students in After-School Care without older siblings, parents will need to proceed through the car pickup line to the parking lot beside the Gym.  Be sure to enter the first lane (closest to the church) so you can easily turn into the parking lot, park, and enter the building to pick up your child.  We will have a faculty/staff member there to help you re-enter the flow of traffic afterwards.

Likewise, parents of our infants and toddlers will also need to proceed through the car pickup line to the parking lot beside the Gym.  Be sure to enter the first lane (closest to the church) so you can easily turn into the parking lot, park, and enter the building to pick up your child.  We will have a faculty/staff member there to help you re-enter the flow of traffic afterwards.

There is a chance that this parking lot beside the Gym becomes full during the heavier traffic times.  If it does, please be patient with us as we move you back through the line to re-enter when space becomes available.  We will avoid this if at all possible, but we may need to ask you to circle back through in order to keep the pickup line from getting blocked for everyone else.

To help with this potential issue, parents of an infant, toddler, or Kindergarten student in After-School Care can pick up their child before the 2:00pm dismissal.  If that is possible for you, we appreciate you working with us to safely and quickly dismiss.

Finally, as always, please be mindful of the parking lot during these pick up times.  Please do not park on the street or behind the building to pick up students.  While this can seem faster, our staff will be busy in keeping the flow of traffic moving, and stopping to dismiss students outside of that flow slows down the process for everyone.

All after-school activities/practices will be cancelled as well.
